Cepsa and FIELDEAS submit their route management project to the enerTIC Awards 2024
16 Sep 2024
Cepsa GASIB has submitted the project “Towards Sustainable Transport: Innovative Route Management System”, based on the FIELDEAS Track and Trace route management system , to the XII Edition of enerTIC Awards 2024, awards for innovation and improvement of energy competitiveness through digitalization.
The multi-energy company implemented FIELDEAS Track and Trace technology for the integral digitalization of the transport cycle linked to gas distribution operations.
Cepsa’s objective was to improve visibility throughout the value chain.
Two years after its implementation, it has demonstrated the significant benefits that FIELDEAS Track and Trace technology has impacted both the company and its environment.
Benefits of the FIELDEAS route management system at Cepsa
The new solution, a candidate for the sustainability category of the enerTIC Awards 2024, as part of Cepsa GASIB’s digital transformation process, emerged with very clear objectives:
Reducing the carbon footprint of delivery routes
Maximizing productivity in load centers
Facilitating the use of the systems for users and traffic managers
Improve end-customer satisfaction, since deliveries are more accurate, secure, on time and responsive to urgent deliveries.
Thus, the main indicators and processes for improvement that were identified are as follows:
Operational improvements achieved by full digitization and environmental impact.
Facilitate collaboration between transport companies and GASIB in order to create a more agile and reliable environment.
Increased speed, reliability and online management of transport activity tracking.
Increased visibility and transparency, improving the visibility of the service for managers.
Identification of corrective improvements to the transportation service based on unified and shared information.
All of this results in reduced travel times, reduced consumption and, therefore, a direct reduction in the carbon footprint.
Maximize productivity and capacity of load centers.
Optimize the tracking and traceability of the operation, through Machine Learning algorithms.
Streamline delivery processes and monitor service quality and increase NPS.
Quantification/Estimation of Cepsa GASIB consumption reduction
This solution not only improves technology, costs and reduces environmental impact, but also substantially improves the quality of service and deliveries.
Thus, Cepsa GASIB confirms a substantial improvement in its Net Promoter Score (NPS), reaching a mark above 53, in line with its commitment to improving the customer experience.
Finally, with this new solution, the costs of maintaining an obsolete solution, upgrading and future evolution are eliminated, where a pay-per-use model in a Cloud solution is used, with guaranteed scalability.
Reduction of CO2 emissions
Although this is still an ongoing metric, Cepsa GASIB and FIELDEAS Track and Trace estimate a 10% to 20% reduction in routes; 10% to 15% reduction in operating costs (including IT), and at least a 15% reduction in CO2 emissions.
Applied innovation and best practices
The success of the project has been due to the combination of all the teams, both the company’s own, from Logistics and Distribution, through IT, to the supplier’s own resources and, very importantly, the coordination of each and every one of the traffic managers and the drivers themselves.
It should be noted that GASIB has 100% outsourced this activity to expert transport suppliers throughout the Iberian Peninsula and islands, as well as in Portugal.
Use of technologies (ICTs)
Another key to success, as Cepsa GASIB points out, has been the solution adopted, its versatility and functionality, the simplicity and the roadmap of the solution.
FIELDEAS is a medium-sized company, but very niche, with very specific and expert profiles.
This simplicity has led the GASIB team to avoid having to rely on special devices, any device being valid, even the one that the driver chooses to carry.
All this greatly simplifies communications.
XII edition enerTIC Awards 2024
The enerTIC Awards, awards for innovation and improvement of energy competitiveness through digitization, are an initiative to identify, reward and disseminate success stories and best practices, which serve as a reference to advance and raise awareness of the need to focus on sustainability and technology in different areas such as cities, industries, technological infrastructures, etc., with the support of institutions, energy and technology companies, under the umbrella of open innovation.
