The round table “Innovating with the truck on the move”, organized by Transporte XXI and the Spanish Shippers’ Council (SSC) within the framework of SIL 2026 has served to highlight the importance of developing technological projects aimed at the digitization of transport operations, in order to achieve greater efficiency at all levels.
At a time when uncertainty is the new normal for supply chains, companies are challenged to address technological changes while maintaining business and service levels.
In this sense, there are two key aspects that determine the usefulness of a project for the digitization of transport operations: trust and collaboration.
In a context of uncertainty where scarcity of resources, especially human resources, changes in consumer behavior and geopolitical tensions condition the management of supply chains, trust is a commodity in high demand.
Among the main demands of companies when selecting a technology supplier are transparency, flexibility and capacity for improvement, in addition to its technological proposal and know-how.
Óscar López, CEO of FIELDEAS, explained during the round table that the best way to build trust between supplier and customer is through accompaniment.
In the case of document digitalization in road transport, the first step is to make the regulatory reality known, and then talk about the possibilities, efficiency and benefits.
Beyond regulatory compliance, the digitization of all documents that make up the transportation ecosystem brings an unprecedented level of efficiency to the entire company.
Thus, the key role of any technology partner is to make it clear that the digitization project is beneficial for the entire company, not just for one department.
Another important point in this transformation is change management. First of all, the project must be understood and accepted by all company departments in order to eliminate barriers.
Next, change management in the case of transportation must be done with a focus on suppliers and customers.
Óscar López explained that FIELDEAS has customers who have decided to go for the digitization of all documents, despite the investment in change management that must be made to make the digital transformation a success, especially externally.
“There’s going to be 50% of your customers that are going to admit it easily, another 25% that are going to admit it with some management, and there’s going to be another 25% that you’re going to have to work with on an individual basis to get to the full implementation scenario. It is not easy, but it is possible. You have to have conviction and you have to work for it,” he stressed.
As we have already mentioned, the digitization of transport documents brings different levels of efficiency for companies that go beyond mere regulatory compliance.
In this sense, the regulatory change around the digitization of transport documents puts on the table the opportunity to solve one of the major problems of the supply chain, which is collaboration.
Thus, this regulation is an ideal lever to change the entire transportation model and base it on collaboration, visibility and data sharing.
“We have the opportunity to establish collaboration scenarios that, in turn, are going to change all the processes that come after, such as the planning of logistics centers, merchandise tracking processes, delivery processes, documentation recovery, invoicing…”, Óscar López emphasized.
The document digitization module of FIELDEAS Track and Trace, Smart Docs Hub, focuses its pillars on flexibility and legal and regulatory security, in line with the objective of building trust and fostering collaboration within the supply chain.
Thus, Smart Docs Hub converts the digitization of the control document into a structured, secure process, ready for the mandatory October 2026 deadline, while driving the evolution towards a fully digital and efficient environment in transport document management.
