The importance of data security in SaaS models

When companies find themselves in a market where competition is very high, they must focus all their efforts on offering the best service. This requires good personnel management and organization of tasks, especially in field work. As a result, companies achieve higher performance and processes are standardized. SaaS models have long been an important part of these jobs, which is why data security plays such an important role.

The concept of SaaS (Software as a Service) is not new and has been around for a long time, but its use has been intensifying for some time now. There has been a huge growth in the demand for SaaS models within the field service. More and more organizations are opting for these models, as they have multiple benefits such as quick implementation in the organization and alleviating the workload of IT departments.

Advantages of using SaaS models

Some of the advantages that SaaS models offer organizations are the following:

  • Lower costs, since each company hires what it needs at that moment, but if it needs more resources later on, it can hire them without any problem.
  • No need to worry about updates and maintenance.
  • Greater mobility, thanks to the fact that it is software that can be accessed through a device, whether it is a computer or a cell phone. Thanks to this, no matter where the employee is located, he or she can access the system at any time.
  • Increased security. Companies always reinforce their security around all their information, but they will never be able to reach the security levels offered by a SaaS model. Data is much more secure in the cloud than on the employee’s computer.

Why is it important to keep data secure in SaaS models?

Nowadays, companies move a lot of data on a daily basis, which is why security has become essential. There are times when the SaaS model may raise concerns about how data is handled and the security measures that need to be followed to prevent data loss, theft or modification.

Privacy and information security are very important aspects to take into account within a company. In the case of SaaS data, the data is in the hands of a provider and organizations depend on the provider to protect the data and its control system to prevent unauthorized access to the data.

Information security within a SaaS system takes into account a number of aspects such as the following:

  • How the data that the company generates every day is stored.
  • Controlling access to this data.
  • What is the data recovery and backup system.
  • The integrity of the information it contains.
  • Perform secure data transfers.

What must a supplier comply with to provide data security?

Companies using SaaS models expose their data to a number of risks such as data loss or breach, insecure interfaces and APIs, password theft or shared technology.

With that in mind, providers of SaaS models such as FIELDEAS have to implement and comply with a series of basic security properties, information availability, confidentiality, authenticity and integrity of the information. That is why, as providers, FIELDEAS uses encryption systems that help to ensure that the privacy of the information and data included in the SaaS model is efficient and secure.
