The process of digital transformation of transportation involves a major cultural change. The heterogeneity of the sector and its atomization are reasons to search for scenarios of collaboration between different actors to promote irreversible change.
There is no turning back from digital transformation. In the current circumstances more than ever.
Moreover, the healthcare crisis has only reinforced an unstoppable trend that is spreading to all economic activities and will soon leave out those companies that have not started this transition.
However, the process involves a much more profound modification. It is not just changing paper as a tool for archiving and file exchange to computers.
Digitalization goes much further and proposes a cultural change that requires the agreement and collaboration of a wide range of stakeholders.
From this point of view, the needs extend to areas such as workforce training or a progressive change in some business models.
This need is even greater in a sector such as road freight transport, atomized and very heterogeneous, where the needs of each company are radically different and specific.
And in which companies generate a wealth of data of great value, both for their own competitiveness and that of their customers.
Thus, the digitization needs of a large fleet have little to do with those of a freelancer. Something similar happens with the differences that exist between different sectors of activity.
Nevertheless, there is a common link in all cases. The objective of the digital transformation must be clear that the process is carried out without mistakes.
Faced with this need, at FIELDEAS we have opted to establish alliances with institutions in the sector that are also interested in leading an irreversible change.
In this sense, as a technology company we have responded to the call made by CETM and we have joined the Working Group formed by carriers, shippers, freight forwarders, operators and technology platforms for the promotion of the Electronic Transport Document.
As a first step, the digitization of electronic transport documentation is a key link in a successful digital transformation process.
Thus, we became part of a Working Group made up of shippers, carriers, freight forwarders, logistics companies and administrations representing more than 300,000 companies.
FIELDEAS with its Track&Trace solution boosts the digitization of the sector by providing greater reliability and security in information processing and document management, and contributes to corporate social responsibility thanks to the electronic delivery note, digital signature and e-CMR. It can be processed from a single device, without the need for paper and with total legal guarantee.
We convert delivery and pick-up operations in 100% paperless processes. Transparent, sustainable and efficient operations
Similarly, this Working Group is promoting a study to analyze the degree of implementation of electronic documentation in the transport sector and the barriers that companies encounter in the introduction of this digitization technology.
From FIELDEAS, as a member of this initiative, we encourage you to participate in this analysis that intends to reflect the business reality and improve the processes of digital transformation in transport.
Interested parties can access the survey of the study HERE
All the members of the Working Group are fully convinced of the need to promote the use of technological tools to the point of making their use a daily and routine activity from a collaborative platform.
This will not only save paper, but will also bring other benefits to carriers, such as cost reduction, improved efficiency of multiple processes and increased transparency in freight management.
